Walkon glass
Dutch Roof Design’s insulated walkable glass (HR++) not only provides light into your home, but also preserves space on your roof terrace. The patented aluminum profile allows you to incorporate the Walkon Glass flush with the roof terrace floor.
Popular sizes
We offer a number of popular sizes with extra discount in our webshop. The walkable rooflight meets the standard for most residential applications in the Netherlands (loadings of 250kg/m2). The Walkon is placed simply over an upstand for the typical ‘sky only view’. And of course the system is guaranteed to be watertight.

Glass specifications: 62.5mm double laminated for extra safety
- Outer sheet: 33mm clear tempered and laminated HST glass
- Cavity: 16mm Argon filled air cavity
- Inside: 13.5mm Clear tempered laminated glass with a coating for increased thermal efficiency
What does this glass specification mean?
- The glass has excellent insulation: comparable to HR++. The U-value is 1.1 W/m²K.
- ZTA value (also called G value) is 47%. This solar factor means that 53% of the sun’s heat is blocked.
- Argon-filled cavity: this noble gas insulates better than dry air.
- Invisible low E coating reduces heat loss. This means heat stays outside in summer and inside in winter, while light transmission remains the same.
- The glass is “Heat Strength Toughened” (HST), meaning toughened by heat treatment. This makes it extra strong, resistant to greater temperature differences and safer.

The walkable glass simply falls over the upstand like a lid.
Specifications of the upstand:
- Minimum height: 150mm
- Width including weathering: 100mm
The dimensions on this webshop are always the outside dimensions of the upstand. This means that the opening seen from the inside is smaller.
For example: a 1 x 2 meter roof light has the following dimensions:
- 1000mm x 2000mm: outside upstand dimensions
- 800mm x 1800mm: inside dimensions before inside finishing

The Walkon comes with full assembly equipment (kit, screws etc) and with an installation manual. Enthusiastic do-it-yourselfers also install our products themselves.
